Irish digital infrastructure community gathers at Castleknock Golf Club to honour industry pioneer with partner-exclusive tournament and coaching options
Digital Infrastructure Ireland (DII) has announced the upcoming Barry Rhodes Memorial Golf Outing, scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Castleknock Golf Club in County Dublin.
The event will bring together leaders from across the Irish digital infrastructure community to honour the legacy, achievements, and spirit of one of the sector’s most influential figures.
Barry Rhodes, a founding member of Host in Ireland (now DII) and former Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Neutral Exchange (INEX), was a central figure in shaping Ireland's digital infrastructure landscape. Known equally for his professional leadership and his passion for golf, Rhodes achieved a historic milestone in 2008 when he became the first person ever to score a perfect 100% on the PGA’s Advanced Rules of Golf examination.
Multiple Playing Options for All Skill Levels
To ensure the memorial is inclusive of the entire community, the outing will offer options tailored both for experienced golfers and those new to the sport:
The Barry Rhodes Memorial Tournament: A competitive Four-Ball Stableford tournament on Castleknock’s championship course. Tournament entries are strictly limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Swingyard Session: A casual experience hosted at the nearby Swingyard covered driving range, ideal for beginners and improvers. Participants will have access to digitally enhanced, shot-tracking bays, pro coaching, and organised round-trip transport from Castleknock Golf Club.
Following the golf sessions, attendees will return to Castleknock Golf Club for an evening reception featuring food, drinks, and an awards ceremony.
